Chicago Post Covid19 Bachelorette Party Planning (Phase 3)

Dear Bride-to-be & Bridesmaids

If your bachelorette party became “tentative” thanks to Covid19, this guide is what you need when brainstorming bachelorette activities in Chicago, as we are officially in the Phase 3 of the City re-opening plan. What does it mean when it comes to the party planning and what are your current options when putting together a party weekend itinerary?

First of all, we’d like to note that the recommendations below are based on the current City guidelines, provided by the City of Chicago (Chicago.gov) and maybe a subject to change. We also recommend double checking specific safety guidelines per the type of activity of your interest here. We have selected Bachelorette Party planning related list of the lifted restrictions:

  • Non-lakefront parks (no contact sports)

  • Hotels / lodging

  • Outdoor attractions (e.g., boating – not including the Playpen, non-Lakefront golf courses)

  • Personal services (e.g., hair/nail salons, barbershops, tattoo parlors)

  • Restaurants and coffee shops (outdoor dining only)

  • Public transit, regional transit, taxis and rideshare

  • Gyms (outdoor and 1:1 personal training only)

Additionally, social gatherings limited to <10 persons and some more detailed industry specific instructions have been provided that we’d like to share with you. We don’t know yet if we will spend the entire summer in phase 3 or not but Here are some fun ideas for you to consider when planning a Bachelorette Party in Chicago this summer.

Breakfast, Brunch, Dinner

If you’d like to take advantage of the outdoor dining and get together with your girls to sip on coffee, mimosas, or cocktails at one of Chicago restaurants, make sure to select the one with the patio, rooftop, or plenty of seating by the floor to ceiling windows, as currently those are the only ones permitted by the City of Chicago for public dining.

! Important ! Make sure to make a reservation in advance, as seating options are limited. Another thing to note is that to promote social distancing, many Chicago restaurants are currently allowing up to 6-8 people per table, so if you have a larger party, prepare your negotiations skills to reserve couple of tables next to each other. For ideas on where to dine, see our Guide to a Perfect Bachelorette Party in Chicago. If you or someone in your party is local, to support local businesses in the post pandemic economic environment, try to make your reservation, calling restaurant directly or through their website (if it’s an option) or in-person. This way they don’t pay processing fees to Open Table and similar services.

Not So Public

You need to keep in mind that whether it is girls/guys only or joint party, some guests might still have a guard on in regards to the public places and would rather be a part of the celebration that is more private and not yet ready to trust the strangers and be surrounded by hundreds of them at public places. So let’s explore the options. Fun ideas:

  • Rent Apartment / House / Hotel Room

Airbnb, VRBO and Hotwire have great deals on private housing rental to host your party. Airbnb has recently launched a common no party rule, so make sure to coordinate the arrangements and extend of regulations with your host. Art Room Events has partnerships with multiple hotels and Airbnb properties to offer our clients the best deals and accommodations in Chicago, inquire here.

  • Rooftop Party (Private Reservation)

Whether it is on the property of the luxury residential building, hosted by someone in your party, private club or a hotel, Chicago has to offer one of the best known worldwide selection of rooftops with their gorgeous views, private bars and amenities. This luxurious option might be a better fit for larger or joint parties.

  • Boat Party (Private Rental)

Boat party is another great way to host a private party at a private venue, with the views, food, BYOB drinks, music and on the water fun (slides, rafts, water guns etc). The beauty of the boat party is that it can be completely segregated and totally private on lake Michigan or Chicago River for the groups of up to 10 people. See currently available boat rentals here.

  • Garden or Park Party

Chicago or not, as long as weather is cooperating, private garden parties can be absolutely gorgeous. Pick the theme - make them bespoke, add some delicious bbq/grill, pre-pack with white claws, season appropriate cocktails or vino, and make sure whoever has the best camera in their phone is on top of their picture taking game or stock up on the polaroid instamix film to make a classic photo memory report.

  • Interactive Private Cocktail Mystery Party

Just as it sounds - an interactive private cocktail party for your friends and family (bachelorette or joint), with the theme of choice for drinks, an atmosphere complimenting gorgeous venue and, of course, outfits (1920’s speakeasy, Hawaiian tiki, 1970’s disco and more), mystery affairs, secrets and blackmailing, life entertainment and, most importantly, hands off planning, to the courtesy of Art Room Events.
